Filipinos For Obama 2012 Campaign Launch!
Originating in the San Francisco Bay Area, Filipinos For Obama (FFO) sought to create a national voter mobilization for then 2008 Presidential candidate, Barack Obama. In a few short months, FFO reached out to approximately 25,000 voters throughout the country and had the highest voter-to-voter contact among Asian American and Pacific Islander ethnic groups. Since that time, the organization has transitioned into a political mobilization organization, called “KAYA: Filipino Americans for Progress.” “Kaya Natin” in Tagalog translates to “Yes, We Can!”
Why we support President Obama for Re-election
KAYA seeks to hold our leaders accountable to respond to the changing needs of our community. Our policy advocacy efforts focus on key issues impacting our community at local, state, and national levels. Through formal campaigns and grassroots efforts, KAYA engages in policy analysis and advocacy by partnering with key experts and allies.
In addition to being consistently engaged with our community, President Obama has supported a variety of policies that benefit the Filipino American community, including veterans equity, healthcare reform, and comprehensive immigration reform.
More work needs to be done. With this in mind, we are gearing up for the 2012 election and supporting President Obama because he will continue to support the progress of the Filipino American community and all Americans.
